COVID-19 Safety Protocols and Restrictions to Expect During Your Next Visit
No one would have expected that COVID-19 would affect our lives the way it has right now. It has changed how we live our lives. The new norm is wearing masks, social distancing, and using hand sanitizers.
There has been a spike in the number of cases. The Washington State Department of Health has recorded 2,233 new cases for the second day in a row. To save lives, more restrictions have been imposed to ensure that the current surge will not continue. Since everyone has a part to play in keeping the virus at bay, we have to adhere to these new restrictions.
Our dental practice will continue treating patients, even during this crazy time. Gum disease, toothaches, and other dental issues still have to be dealt with in order to keep our patients healthy.
Improving Dental Care
SARS-CoV-2 has changed the way we treat our patients. We have had to evolve so that we can treat our patients while still keeping them safe. Therefore, we have revamped our systems and are constantly keeping up to date with new data to ensure that you leave healthier than you came.
As you know by now, dental appointments are made differently. Walk-ins are not allowed since this can put everyone at risk. You will have to call beforehand so that we can determine whether you can come.
Other than that, we also use teledentistry to offer services to our patients without them having to come into our office. With teledentistry, we get to share digital information, offer consultancy, and analyze dental situations to ascertain whether they are emergencies or not.
Since we deal with your oral cavity, there is a higher risk of being exposed to the disease. Plus, there are certain tools that can release wide sprays of respiratory particles. To combat this, we utilize air purifiers to help remove the contaminants so that they don’t recirculate through the air-conditioning or linger in the air.
We keep each surface squeaky clean since the virus can stick on surfaces. Sterilization and hygiene are at an all-time high.
And of course, we cannot forget the PPEs that we wear to keep us safe so that we can keep doing what we love, which is taking care of your oral health.
What to Expect During Your Dental Appointment
Before the pandemic, you could have anyone you wanted to accompany you to your dental visit. Now things have changed. We are only allowing a limited number of people inside our dental practice. This helps us to control how many people are in our practice at any given time.
You can expect the following safety guidelines:
- We will ensure everyone is wearing a face mask
- Prescreening will be conducted so that we can take your body temperature
- You will have to fill a health questionnaire together with a consent form
- One of our team members will walk you through the safety measures and answer any questions
- You may need to wait in your vehicle when you arrive so that we can reduce the number of people in our waiting room
- Our dental team will be dressed in more protective gear than usual
- No handshakes or hugs are allowed
These are crazy times, and we cannot wait to get back to normal. However, we have to adhere to these restrictions to save lives. We are here for you. If you have any questions or need any dental services, contact our dentist at Ballard Dentistry to schedule an appointment.
